Nepal is considered as a paradise for bird watching due to its very rich biodiversity.  Nepal is geographically divided into three regions are Terai, hilly and mountains thus it is a pristine homeland for various birds within the country. In the territory of Nepal, there are found more than 850 species of birdlife within the country. Among them are migrated and a very unique one in the world. In Nepal birds from Siberia in winter and birds from Sri Lanka in summer visit in Nepal to protect from the cold and the heat. Danphe is the national bird of Nepal that is found above 3500 meters in Himalaya regions.

The government of Nepal has listed a special bird watching areas in different parts of Nepal. The main bird watching spots are Koshi Tappu, Chitwan National Park and Bardia National Park. Inside the Kathmandu valley where there are found more than 500 species of birds are possible to see them in Dakshinkali, Godavari, Pulchowki, and Nagarjung jungle. Besides these many, more bird watching places exist all over the country ranging from mountains, hills to terais.
