Langtang valley trek is one of the closest trek and well known north of Kathmandu to explore the Himalayas.  This trek is one of the shortest and nearest from Kathmandu to explore the Himalayas. The Langtang trek starts from Syabru Besi (1460m) after 7 to 8   hrs drive from Kathmandu We catch a bus from Kathmandu to Shyabru Besi from where a road connects to Tibet China. This trekking region offers dense of forests, valleys, Nepali villages snow capped mountains and glaciers. The trek encounters rice fields, Tamang and Lama People.Lamas are similar to Tibetan. There is no any different between Tibetan and Lamas. 

The route starts from (1470m) and climbs through various forests of subtropical, oak, rhododendron, maple and pine, pastoral yaks and eventually to Kyanjin Gompa at (3870m). From this point views of  mountains Langtang ii (6596m), Langtang Lirung (7227m) Changbu (6251m) and , Kingshung (6781m), Langtang Yubra (6048m), Youbra (6264m), Naya Kanga (5844m) and  Ganchempo( 6387m) Dorje Lakpa (6966m)  are wonderful. And views of glaciers are Langtang Lirung, Tabo Glacier, and Langtang Glacier. Where you get an opportunity to ascend Kyangjin Ri [4350m. During the trek walking in a narrow valley between two Himalayas ranges which join to Tibet China. The trails are easy but due to the landslides sweep down in some places. We retrace our route back down the valley to Syabru Besi and then drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu

When you arrive at Kathmandu International Airport then transfer to your hotel. A short briefing is given concerning trekking itinerary.

Day 02 Sightseeing Swayambhu and Boudha 

Day 03 Drive to Shyabru Besi by bus (1460m) (max 7hrs)

We start at 8 am. The bus takes us through forests, villages, rice fields crossing many small rivers the road up and down to villages at 1940m high Dhunche is district headquarter of Langtang a tourist checkpoint there. From Dhunche the road is almost down to Shyabru Besi from where a road links to Tibet China. Shyabru Besi is a small business local center situated between bottom of huge hills at the bank of Bhote Kosi river. Good guest houses and banking facilities are in this town.

Day 04 Shyabru Besi to Lama Hotel (2410m) (max 5hrs)

Today’s trek begins after breakfast. The route is gradually up and through lovely forests along the bank of Langtang River. Special attractions are Langtang river, huge rocks on it giant wild cactus trees and good sound of the river. There is a possibility to see Langur (big monkey). Lama Hotel is a camping place where there are about a dozen guest houses. This place is among the forest at the left side bank of Langtang River.

Day 05 Lama Hotel to Langtang Valley (3430m) (max 6hrs)

Today we trek completely rhododendron forests and few hemlock trees along the left side of Langtang river both sides of the route where huge rocks pointing up to the mountains. A checkpoint is at Ghora Tabela. We can see yaks and cattle are grazing in the forest and open meadows and Langtang ii (6596m) and Ganchempo (6387m). In Langtang valley, there are found good guesthouses and its people are believed to be migrated from Tibet and their income source is keeping cattle and tourism.

Day 06 Langtang Valley to Kyanjin Gumba (3870m) (4hrs)

Today’s trek is almost straight and the shortest to Kyanjin Gumba. We can see beautiful mountains to the east, north, and west. Kyanjin Gumba is the last settlement of Langtang. It is surrounded by mountains and glaciers. There are a monastery and a Yak cheese factory. This place was named by the monastery Kyanjin Gumba is nice for hiking to see surrounding mountains and glaciers. The sunrise and sunset on the mountains are also good views of this trek. Even at night from the room white mountains can be viewed closely.

Day 07  Hiking to Kyanjin Ri (4773m)

On this day, we climb up to Kyanjin Ri (4773m) if those who are able to hike. It takes two hours to be on top. The trail is very steep, slippery and winding up in shape. Above the Kyanjin Ri lands are completely in barren but tiny grasses. On the top of Kyanjin Ri, there is windy and of course, unexpectedly cold but close breathtaking views of surrounding mountains are Langtang Lirung (7727m), Changbu (6251m), (6781m), Yubra (6264m), Langshisa (6560m), Dorje Lakpa (6966m), Gangchemp (6378m) and many more. Exploring the Himalayas with full of satisfying, we descend to Kyanjin Gompa.

Day 08 Kyanjin Gumba to Lama Hotel (2400m)(6hrs)

Today’s trek is reverse down about 1450m to Lama Hotel.

Day 09 Lama Hotel to Shyabru Besi (1460m)(4hrs)

Today is the last day of our trekking. We can trek continue down to Shyabru Besi where we reach within 4 hours.

Day 10 By bus Shyabru Besi to Kathmandu (1200m) (max 7hrs)

This day is the last day of the Langtang trek. We leave Shyabru Besi early in the morning after having breakfast. The bus arrives at the gate of our guesthouse to pick up us to Kathmandu.

Day 11 Departure from Kathmandu

You are assisted to reach at the airport by our staff. You have to reach at the airport 3 hours before your plane leave.
