Tamang Heritage Trail trek is located in the Rasuwa District of Nepal, close destination from Kathmandu to the north direction border of Tibet China.

This heritage trek covers the Langtang section too, which occupies the third popular trekking area of Nepal. Tamang is an ethnics group in Nepal and these people live all over parts of the Langtang region. They are rich in culture, tradition, in Buddhist religion particularly in a Tibetan culture so the trekking routes are studded with Buddhist monuments such as stupas, Maniwaslls, chortens, colorful prayer flags, and Monasteries (Gomba). Inhabited of these areas are believed people who migrated from Tibet for looking fertile land to live in a better life.

The trip is interesting and more enjoyable with charming scenes of forests, subtropical plants, trails, streams, rivers, villages, torqued lakes, thundering waterfalls from boulder rocks and snowcapped peaks. Gatlang(2238m),  Chilime(1762m)  Tatopani((2607m), (Gonggangg (2227m) Brimdang (2848m),  Tuman(2336m) and Sherpagaon(2563m) are a series of Tamang Heritage villages along the trail which offers lifestyle, language, culture and tradition religion of local people. This trek welcomes you with a magnificent Mountain View of Ganesh Himal (7422m), Sanjen Himal range, and landscapes.

A unique experience of healing bath in a natural hot spring at Tatopani makes the trip enjoyable.  Gatlang, Tatopani, Thuman, Briddim, and halfway to Sherpa gaon trails are the boundary between Tamang Heritage and Langtang Valley Trek, but Tamang Heritage trail is combined with Langtang Valley Trek as well. As the area of this trek is finished in 4 days then from Sherpa gaon the trail dips down to Ramche (2455m) where Langtang Valley Trek trail joins.

Langtang valley trekking region rewards with the density of forests, valleys, Nepali villages snowcapped mountains and glaciers. Tamang and Lama People. Tibetan. The route people occupy this region trek and the trail meandering through various forests of subtropical, oak, rhododendron, maple and pine, pastoral yaks, and eventually to Kyanjin Gompa at (3870m). From this point views of mountains Langtang ii (6596m), Langtang Lirung (7227m) Changbu (6251m) and, Kingshung (6781m), Langtang Yubra (6048m), Youbra (6264m), Naya Kanga (5844m) and  Ganchempo( 6387m) Dorje Lakpa (6966m)  are wonderful. And views of glaciers are Langtang Lirung, Tabo Glacier, and Langtang Glacier. Where you get an opportunity to ascend Kyangjin Ri [4350m. During the trek walking in a narrow valley between two Himalayas ranges which join to Tibet China. The trails are easy, but due to the landslides sweep down in some places. We retrace our route back down the valley to Syabru Besi and then drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu

When you arrive at Kathmandu International Airport then transfer to your hotel. A short briefing is given concerning trekking itinerary.

Day 02 Sightseeing Swayambhu and Boudha 

Day 03 Drive to Shyabru Besi by bus (1460m) (max 7-8hrs)

We start in the morning to Syabru Besi after breakfast. The bus takes us through forests, villages, rice fields crossing many small rivers the road up and down to villages at 1940m high Dhunche is district headquarter of Langtang a tourist checkpoint there. From Dhunche the road is almost down to Shyabru Besi from where a road links to Tibet China. Shyabru Besi is a small business local center situated between bottoms of huge hills at the bank of Bhote Kosi river. Good guest houses and banking facilities are in this town.

Day 04 Syabru Besi to Gatlang (2238m) (max 5hrs)

Today is the first day of the trek is interesting and exciting to start climbing up to the north direction from Syabru Besi. Passing Goljung village (1938m). The trail offers snow-capped mountain views of peaks in the north side are Ganesh Himal, Shishapangma. Langtang Lirung and Gosaikund range and another side beautiful green valley. From the village, a short time the trail descends and then continue 5 hours walking reach at Gatlang village of Tamang community which is situated on the hillside has a cluster of houses which are the stoned roof.

Day 05 Gatlang to Tatopani (2607m) (Max 7hrs)

The trail to Tatopani passes mainly three villages are Thangbuche, Chilime, and Goggang. The mountain views are the same but they look different from new places. we descend to Thambuchet(1768m) from where the path gradually ascends Tatopani while at Chilime has hydropower with its dam. The longest day walks finally at Tatopani which has natural hot spring where it is good to have the healing body. Local people their belief is if they sink in the hot spring after they get to heal and diseases pass out through the body.

Day 06 Tatopani to Thuman (2238m)(max 6hrs)

Day 6 trek leads the highest elevation during Tamang Heritage trek at Nagthali Ghyang at 3165 meters. The trail to Thuman gradually up and down through a forest of pine and cedar and offers snowcapped mountains of Ganesh Himal, Langtang with its range, and Sanjen besides these Landscapes, Tamang villages and flapping with Buddhist prayer flags sticking on the long dry pillar of woods are attractions of the day. Eventually at Thuma village of Tamang community which is today’s destination.

Day 07 Thuman to Bridhim (2229m) (5-6hrs)

To reach Bridhim we pass through Timure(,1782m) and Lingling 1737m, The path dips, and rises are pleasant which encounters Bhotekoshi Nadi (Khola) from Tibet and Rssuwagadhi Highway. The highway is linked by china Tibet between Nepal and China border point. Once in a time, Timure was a trade Centre between Nepal and China. Walking down along the bank of the Bhotekoshi path reaches Brighim where inhabitants are Tamang who derived from Tibet. Tonight accommodation is provided as a simple local style food service as homestay which is very much admired by trekkers so far.

Day 08 Bridhim to Lama Hotel (2410m)(5-6hrs)

4-day trekking in Tamang Heritage trail ends before joining to Langtang valley trek trail at Rimche (2455m). The trail to Lama Hotel is a pleasure to walk through the forest of rhododendron, bamboo bush and a nice view of landscapes It’s also chance to see langur monkey. From Bridhim a short descent to Ghopche Khola and then continue to walk leads to a beautiful village Sherpa Gaon (2563m). Heading gently down to the east direction the path reaches Ramche (2455m) where Langtang Valley trail joins from here a short descending through the bamboo bush at Lama Hotel village where there are about a dozen lodges surrounded by beautiful jungle at the left side bank of Langtang River.

Day 09 Lama Hotel to Langtang Valley (3430m) (max 6hrs)

Today we trek completely rhododendron forests and few hemlock trees along the left side of Langtang river both sides of the route where huge rocks pointing up to the mountains. The checkpoint is at Ghora Tabela. We can see yaks and cattle are grazing in the forest and open meadows and Langtang ii (6596m) and Ganchempo (6387m). In Langtang valley, there are found good guesthouses and its people are believed to be migrated from Tibet and their income source is keeping cattle and tourism.

Day 10 Langtang Valley to Kyanjin Gumba (3870m) (4hrs)

Today’s trek is almost straight and the shortest to Kyanjin Gumba. We can see beautiful mountains to the east, north, and west. Kyanjin Gumba is the last settlement of Langtang. It is surrounded by mountains and glaciers. There are a monastery and a Yak cheese factory. This place was named by the monastery Kyanjin Gumba is nice for hiking to see surrounding mountains and glaciers. The sunrise and sunset on the mountains are also good views of this trek. Even at night from the room, the White Mountains can be viewed closely.

Day 11 Hiking Kyanjin Ri (4773m)

On this day, we climb up to Kyanjin Ri (4773m) if those who are able to hike. It takes two hours to be on top. The trail is very steep, slippery and winding up in shape. Above the Kyanjin Ri lands are completely in barren but tiny grasses. On the top of Kyanjin Ri, there is windy and of course, unexpectedly cold but close breathtaking views of surrounding mountains are Langtang Lirung (7727m), Changbu (6251m), (6781m), Yubra (6264m), Langshisa (6560m), Dorje Lakpa (6966m), Gangchemp (6378m) and many more. Exploring the Himalayas with full of satisfying, we descend to Kyanjin Gumba.

Day 12 Kyanjin Gumba to Lama Hotel (2400m)(6-7hrs)

Today’s trek is reverse down about 1450m to Lama Hotel.

Day 13 Lama Hotel to Shyabru Besi (1460m)(4hrs)

Today is the last day of trekking and the route is a descent through lovely forests along the bank of Langtang River. Special attractions are Langtang river, huge rocks on it giant wild cactus trees and good sound of the river. There is a possibility to see Langur (big monkey). The trail crosses on suspension bridges over Langtang River. Finally, the path meets the Rashuwagadi Highway where there is Langtang National Park checkpoint to register permit. 10 minutes past here to Shyabru Besi.

Day 14 By bus Shyabru Besi to Kathmandu (1200m) (max 7hrs)

We leave Shyabru Besi early in the morning after having breakfast. The bus arrives at the gate of our guesthouse to pick up us to Kathmandu. The bus runs up and down by bumping through Dhunche, Trisuli and in the evening in Kathmandu.

Day 15 Departure from Kathmandu

You are assisted to reach at the airport by our staff. You have to reach at the airport 3 hours before your plane leave.
